Baxterbear was TREEKLED to join Matthew McVarish on the final steps of his 10,000 mile, 2 year walk around Europe “The Road to Change”

Matthew (awarded top Scot 2014) completed his epic 10,000 mile walk through Europe in Scotland’s capital city Edinburgh on 7th February.

Matty, a survivor of child sexual abuse himself, embarked on this mammoth task on 31st May 2013, putting his television career on hold, to visit 29 countries on foot raising awareness that every fifth child is sexually abused and ask every European Government to upload the rights of their children.
Matthew is European Ambassador for ‘Stop the Silence: Stop Child Sexual Abuse, Inc. and an advisor to the board of the Moira Anderson Foundation.

On the ’Road to Change’, Matthew has been invited to speak at the United Nations, received a personal audience with Pope Francis and was joined for a walk by Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland. Matty has now been awarded the prestigious title ’Top Scot 2014’ at the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Awards for most inspirational Scots, voted for by the people of Scotland.
