It was the first ever Armed Forces Day and it has been over 60 years since Baxterbear was the mascot of RAF Pilot Baxter – a reconnaissance pilot in World War II. His plane was shot down and Pilot Baxter, along with Baxterbear, was rescued by Gurkhas. Baxterbear is a happy bear, and he was especially TREEKLED that his first public photo was taken with two Gurkhas.
