Prince William says Hello to Baxterbear in Hello!

Baxterbear was TREEKLED to be featured in Hello! magazine with Prince William! He is the mascot for the British Military Tournament, formerly the Royal Tournament, and Prince William was the guest of honour on December 8th.
HELLO! International Magazine of the Year, p48 Prince William Military Show Proves Major Attraction The former RAF Search and Rescue helicopter pilot then took off again but only after taking on board a rather special passenger. On this occasion, at least William had right to bear arms, leaving with a soft toy for his son Prince George. ‘A snoozy bear, how appropriate,’ he said. ‘That will go down very well.’
Little did he know, that was Baxterbear. He was TREEKLED to be presented to a pilot, Prince Wiliam, because he had been a mascot to a young pilot who was shot down in World War II and hung from a tree for five days. The young pilot survived and since then, Baxterbear has come to represent surviving, positive thinking, looking for opportunities and making the most of your life. That is what Baxterbear represents today. Hello5 Baxterbear saluted Prince William when he performed in front of him at the British Military Tournament a few weeks ago and Hello! was there to cover the event. Baxterbear appeared on page 48 on issue 1308, December 30 2013. Hello6 Hello! has been one of Britain’s leading weekly magazines since 1988, specialising in celebrity news and human interest stories.

Baxterbear spans the generations at BMT

Two weeks to wait for Baxterbear

With just two weeks left until the British Military Tournament, Baxterbear cannot wait to perform once again. This time, he will be TREEKLED to perform in front of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. Baxterbear has just received this from the British Military Tournament:
There are just over two weeks to go until the fantastically exciting British Military Tournament returns to Earls Court from 7th – 8th December. This year’s Tournament celebrates ‘British Legends’ in a new and exciting show, which is set to have you perched on the edge of your seat with dramatic re-enactments, nail biting high speed chases and daring stunts. Preparation is well under way for all performers finalising the finishing touches.
It all sounds very exciting and Baxterbear cannot wait to be a part of it once again!

Baxterbear goes to Rugby International

Baxterbear was TREEKLED to join in with the Scotland vs South Africa Armed Forces Day rugby match at Murrayfield. He was one of the mascots for the match and he was kept busy all day, meeting the crowd. Baxterbear was TREEKLED to be at Murrayfield once again, after being the mascot at the same event last year. It was quite a day for Baxterbear! The rugby did not kick off until three o’clock, but Baxterbear was inside the stadium at midday. He was TREEKLED to meet BBC presenter Jill Douglas. 1461469_357825467696303_554696647_n 011

Baxterbear then made his way to the family zone, but he bumped into Lt Col Mike Tanner, Commanding Officer 45 Commando, on his way there. 1472856_357831407695709_31478984_n At the family zone, Baxterbear met many of the young boys and girls who were TREEKLED to be at the rugby, and, of course, to meet Baxterbear! It was then time for the teams to arrive, and Baxterbear, along with Edinburgh Rugby mascot Fintry, and Glasgow Warriors mascot Clyde, were at the front of the line, welcoming the teams to Murrayfield! Baxterbear even got himself onto BBC television while the pipe band paraded the teams in. 1463951_357826954362821_1367217404_n Then, it was into the stadium, and Baxterbear was certainly a popular guy! He danced along to the music in front of the crowd and met many boys and girls, as well as quite a few of the older generation too! Baxterbear spent half an hour pitch-side, entertaining all the fans, before it was time for kick-off. Baxterbear watched the first half of the match, and then was back out by the pitch at half time. With Scotland losing 21-0, a lot of the crowd was upset with the first half, but Baxterbear was TREEKLED to cheer them all up in time for the second half! What a day for Baxterbear and he cannot wait until his next rugby match! Baxterbear was helping in the fundraising efforts for Help for Heroes, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, Royal Navy and Marines Charity and the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Baxterbear Wins!

ABF Logo all On Saturday, August the 10th at the Perth Highland Games Baxterbear was TREEKLED to be running in the Mascot Kilt Run to help the ABF The Soldiers’ Charity raise funds. Being a positive happy Baxterbear, he won! Then onwards to the race where he enjoyed the journey.
“Thank you very much to Baxterbear for coming along to the Kilt Run in Perth last Saturday. Whilst sadly the crowds were smaller than last year’s Diamond Jubilee event, Baxterbear played his part in our raising over £1200 for charity. I was very impressed at his turn of speed – in the 100m Mascot’s dash, he beat his rival by a country mile, finishing in style! Fortunately there were more runners (including Baxterbear – 53 minutes, for the record) than last year, so the official world record for kilted runners is now owned by Scotland, although I fear our Canadian competitors (also running in Canada’s Perth alongside a Canadian River Tay!) are likely to regain the title shortly. I am hopeful that Perth will run the event next year (and on a bigger scale!), in which case we’ll hopefully see Baxterbear show a clean set of heels again!”

Baxterbear and Hairy MacKilty practice for Perth Kilt Run 10th August

ABF Logo all   I’m happy positive Baxterbear and TREEKLED to take part in the Perth Kilt Run. Looking forward to helping ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and Perth break the World Record for the amount of people running in kilts – Canada holds the record; this title needs to come home to Scotland! So, come on everyone, kilts on! By the way, although I’m a member of the Baxter clan, and my patch is MacMillan tartan, I’m wearing an Ancient Campbell kilt – it’s made from what was the school rug of a friends of mine, which he has had for over 35 years and he thought it would suit me!You’ll have to see what I wear on the day! image002
